Captain America - The Sleeper - Talking View-Master Reel (no Audio)

Well, sadly, when I went to record the audio to this Captain America Talking View-Master Reel a long, long time ago, I discovered that the attached audio disk was actually for a Pluto reel. And while I would have enjoyed the WFT factor of including it, I thought better of it. 

Now, though he was one of my husband's childhood favorites, I have never been all that familiar with Captain America. I knew the costume and the whole shield thing, but to my shame didn't know anything else about him until the movie and I know that being a movie, what I did learn is probably suspect. 

This one reel story presents Captain America in The Sleeper in which he battles the infamous Red Skull. While I would have loved to include the audio, I hope enjoy.

Iron Man - Hawkeye and the Black Widow - Talking View-Master Reel (with Audio)

Okay next up for our focus on the men of the Avengers we have my favorite smiling metal man, Iron Man. Or, as the GAF Talking View-Master Spiderman Gift Pak calls him ... other favorite Marvel Comic character (see Thor post).

While the Thor audio sounded like a Ghost Hunter's recording, the quality of the Iron Man audio makes Thor's recording seem like it was brought to you in THX sound. But isn't that part of the fun? I will assume your answer is yes! In fact, the track for slide 7 cut short, I can't tell what it was supposed to say, but it obviously was supposed to say something more than I have recorded.


Now, before we get started I want to point out one thing in this first slide. Tony Stark, for a extremely rich guy, sure has a terrible office. 

That said, lets get going!

Thor - The Grey Gargoyle - Talking View-Master Reel (with Audio)

I figure that if I only seem to post every year or so I should at least post something kick-ass.

Long before Jane Foster was an astrophysicist, she was a hot nurse with a major thing for a lame doctor with low self-esteem.Yep, we're talking the Mighty Thor.

In 1977 GAF released the Talking View-Master Spiderman Gift Pak.This canister set featured 6 total reels. One Thor reel, one Captain America reel, one Iron Man reel and three Spiderman reels.

One of the funny things is that on the canister it states ...

Everyone will thrill to the sights and sounds of Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, and other favorite Marvel Comic characters brought to you through the magic of View-Master realism.

Not sure why they totally "and the rest"ed Iron Man, but he did get his image on the box, so it's all good!

Over the next several days View-Master 3-D Spectacular will be featuring the boys of the Avengers. And, thanks to my friend Jonathan, it will be featuring the audio tracks, when available, as well.

At 35 years old the audio is rather scratching and not great quality (okay, it sounds like the recordings brought back on Ghost Hunters Did you hear that, plain as day, it said I was murdered by my father's hand!) but just hearing it makes you feel like you're curled up on a ugly print couch in knee socks and a plaid wool jumper. How many other blogs can offer you that?

So first up on our Avenger's adventure in 2-D is Thor in The Grey Gargolye.
