Zorro - 1958 - Reel 3 "Zorro's Flaming Sword"

Zorro
Packet No. B469
1958

I have still been struggling to improve the reel scans I am posting without much luck. So far I am finding that scanning the reels at 3200 dpi and then doing a little adjustment in Photoshop gives the best results. But still, with these dark television images, they are not coming out as I would have hoped. I am, to put it nicely, "detail oriented" and I find it difficult to settle for just okay. If anyone has any suggestions please send them my way.

But finally View-Master 3-D Spectacular now brings you the thrilling climax to our story with Zorro, Reel 3.

CAPITAN
MONASTARIO AIMS
AT THE ESCAPING
TORRES.

Booklet Text
THE TARGET - The Comandante waited impatiently. At last he opened his door and peered out to see the astounding sight of the prisoner escaping over the wall. Bursting out of his office, he leveled his pistol at Torres who paused, silhouetted, on top of the wall - a perfect target!

Monastario squeezed the trigger ... click! ... the flintlock misfired. Torres disappeared over the wall.

16
ZORRO'S SWORD
DRIVES THE
COMANDANTE
BACK.

Booklet Text
THE FIGHT - Drawing his sword, Monastario rushed towards the man in black. With laughing eagerness, Zorro parried the first thrusts. The captain slashed ... the blow was deflected; he lunged to kill ... Zorro sidestepped.

Then Zorro attacked. His sword wove a web of keen-edged steel. Fighting desperately, Monastario was forced to retreat. A quick flurry of thrusts tumbled him backwards into his own prison cell. Before he could regain his feet, Zorro slammed and locked the door.

"Sergeant Garcia!" he roared. "Call the guard!"

SERGEANT
GARCIA'S RESCUE
ATTEMPT ENDED
INGLORIOUSLY

Booklet Text
GARCIA'S RETREAT - Half-dressed, Sergeant Garcia ran into the courtyard to stop Zorro. Before sleep could be brushed from his eyes, he found himself fiercely defending himself against a lightening sword arm. Backed to the edge of the well, Garcia called, "Lancers! To arms! The prisoner has escaped!"

With a thrust and flick, Zorro disarmed the sergeant and forced him splashing into the well.

18
THE LANCERS
ANSWERED THEIR
SERGEANT'S
CALL

Booklet Text
TO ARMS! - The barracks doors flew open as the lancers spilled from their beds. Confusion filled the darkness. Dressing on the run, the soldiers all grabbed their lances at once, falling spear over suspenders! A minute passed before the first lancer leapt to the attack.

19
BUT "THE FOX"
WAS NOT TO
BE TRAPPED!

Booklet Text
ESCAPE - But "The Fox" was not to be trapped. Striking down the lance of the first attacker, Zorro leapt up on a stack of crates and scrambled to the top of the wall. Dodging a hail of lances, he kicked the top crate down creating havoc among the swarming soldiers. Before they could recover, he disappeared.

20
"I SHALL NAIL
THE SKIN OF
THE 'FOX' TO
THIS VERY WALL!"

Booklet Text
REWARD - By morning, reward posters were lettered. The Comandante, himself, posted the first one angrily boasting, "I shall have the skin of this 'Fox' nailed to this wall before the week is out!"

21
BUT ZORRO
RODE AGAIN AND
AGAIN AS THE
MASKED AVENGER.

Booklet Text
MASKED AVENGER - But Zorro was to ride again and again in Spanish California. Wherever injustice arose, there the black, rearing horse and its mysterious rider would appear to rescue and avenge.

What is next of our agenda? Dark Shadows!
